Ship Electrician Wanted at Swede Ship Marine

Are you an experienced electrician looking to work with both new construction and repair of vessels? Do you have an interest in navigation and complex electrical systems onboard? Then this might be the job for you!

Swede Ship Marine is a leading player in Swedish shipbuilding with roots dating back to 1894. At our yard in Djupvik on Tjörn, we build and repair special vessels in aluminum and composite for clients such as the Swedish Sea Rescue Society, the Coast Guard, and the Navy.

Job Responsibilities

As a ship electrician, you will experience great variety in your daily work – no two days are the same. In new construction, your tasks will include planning, assembly, cable laying, connection, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installations.

In the navigation area, you will work with the installation and adaptation of equipment such as GPS, Gyro, Log, Echo-sounder, AIS, ECDIS, Radar, and GMDSS. You may also train crew and commission systems.

In the repair operations, work is carried out onboard boats at the yard or in the surrounding area, focusing on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.

Your tasks will include:

  • Installing and connecting electrical systems according to drawings and specifications
  • Installing, configuring, and adapting navigation equipment
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical installations onboard
  • Participating in the commissioning of new systems
  • Working independently or on-site with clients when needed

Our Offer

At Swede Ship Marine, you will have an exciting role in one of the few remaining Swedish shipbuilding environments. You will work with variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop your skills in both electrical installation and navigation. Here, tradition meets innovation, and you will be an important part of delivering vessels to clients such as the Swedish Sea Rescue Society, the Coast Guard, and the Navy.

To apply for the position, you need to be a qualified electrician with experience in reading blueprints. Experience with marine installations is an advantage, and we would be particularly pleased if you also have experience troubleshooting complex systems.

You should have basic knowledge in:

  • Electrical installations onboard vessels
  • Electronics
  • Data/IT (Microsoft Windows)
  • Networks and TCP/IP

You must also be proficient in Swedish and English and have a B driver's license. We are looking for someone who is meticulous, self-driven, and solution-oriented. You thrive when developing new solutions based on experience and have no problem managing multiple projects simultaneously. Tight spaces and time pressure are seen as exciting challenges, and you find it easy to collaborate and keep a cool head even under stress.
